Ok.. let me begin by saying that I actually did enjoy this book. Also.. this should be taken as constructive criticism, and Not as me being mean.
I love Apocalyptic fiction especially when it revolves around zombies. I did enjoy the plot and storyline of this book. I liked that the zombies are not actually "Walking Corpses" but rather very violent and infected living humans that are slowly falling apart from the outside in. That is a nice break from the Romero style zombies that most people use. I usually read a book like this one in 2 days, (yes I read a lot). This book, on the other hand, took me two weeks. This is because the book has a few issues that make it tough to stay interested.
First, the authors writing style is very simple. Simple is easy to ready however, it also means that it lacks detail and depth for the characters and the settings. It kind of feels like the writer is very young and lacks experience, maybe still in High School or early in College.
On the note of Depth.... We (the readers) need A LOT more depth on the characters. Especially the main protagonist, Eric. Eric seems to have supernatural abilities in acrobatic martial arts... in the book it mentions numerous times that Eric has had extensive martial arts and gymnastic training, but let's face it, in real life no human being is capable of doing front flips over groups of people (zombies) and then attacking from behind. Now.... It's your world... you can do whatever you want... but give us a believable explanation on how Eric is able to do these things. It makes it easier for the reader to immerse themselves in your book.
Details, details, details. There are numerous places throughout the story have continuity errors. For example in one fight scene, Eric uses all of the bullets in his two 9mm handguns. Then drops them on the ground, does some hand to hand combat and finishes up with the shotgun. Then he continues on down the hall... without retrieving his handguns, but miraculously he has them again in the next fight scene. Also many places where it is clear the author hasn't really done his research. When Eric goes to the weapons manufacturing plant and finds broken swords and automatic rifles in the same room... First.... That's not realistic at all... and completely unnecessary. Eric could still get the sword he wants from the manager's office. There is no need to explain that this company makes ALL kinds of weapons... that is just not done... at least not in the same shop or same facility. Next, I understand that Eric wants the ungodly huge machine gun mounted on his truck... I get it. I'm into guns. That would be totally cool. However, the author chose a 37mm machine gun... This is where research pays off. 37mm is Artillery it is an Anti-Tank weapon. The projectile is almost 1.5" in diameter and the whole cartridge is almost 1 foot long. That is a really HUGE gun. It is not even close to believable. The Gun would probably tear itself off of his truck the first time he fired it and in addition to that there is no military need for it to be automatic, so it would be single shot. Eric would have really big problems with a gun like that. The author could have chosen a smaller more reasonable caliber of gun and still had Eric's desire-- "I want a huge gun in my truck" --- be fulfilled. There are many AWESOME machine guns available on the market that could fill that role .... Believably.
With some practice and improvements this series could be pretty awesome. However, I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay for book two at this point.

The Zombie Outbreak Surviving the Zombie Nightmare Book 1 edition by Daniel White Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This story is alright so far, looks like I'll have to read several more books in this series before I can give my honest opinion. I love to read zombie books, but there is one thing about many of them that I have read so far that I really don't care too much for, and that is too many zombie attacks! yeah I know its a zombie book and zombies attack, but one right after another gets a little old fast! No one could live through as many as this character has,so I'm guessing the virus that caused the z apocalypse has caused this character to have super human strength instead of becoming a zombie therefore I'll read the rest of the series....got to find out what happens don't I!
A very well-written and literate take on the ZA. With smart wolves paranormals, and some reasonably developed characters. A lot of genetics and chemistry and voodoo. The lead character is detailed the best, but even Scratch's is a little lackluster. He has a good heart and is tactically and strategically skilled, even brilliant; you like and admire him, but you don't love him. You could call him character 8-B from the character database the guy who has to be tough and sometimes an a*hole with no room for anything but the mission. That said, I read the first two books in the series and am about to buy the third. The author is a master of thickening the plot with layers of strategy. It's a spoiler to talk about the three-person team Scratch puts together, but it is Incredibly mighty and balanced, twisted, resourceful, enhanced and amped up, unexpected, and weird.
I would like to say that this book is contractitory in many regards.

Spoilers

1. the main character is supposed to be a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces and knew how to handle a gun, except he used the "noob" term of CLIP instead of Magazine for holding the ammunition.

2. Characters is Chaotic Neutral. Character is the most selfish SOB I have ever read about. He makes Obama look like he is mis-understood.

3. The Character is so anti-social that he hates people with equal animosity and has zero excuse or PTSD or whatever. I mean I know that thes people exist but man, that guy is an SOB you do not want fighting at your back.

4. The main character slaughters a woman forced to take part in cannabalism to survive. I mean WTH is that all about. He is a stone-cold murderer with no sense of remorse. He is not a good guy in the least.

Now, I realize that if it sounds like I hate this guy...well...I do. I really hate that guy! He is the worst that humans have to offer.

If the author wrote the book on purpose the way that I described...good job!

The book was interesting but there were more things about the book that distracted from it.

There were typos that I did overlook. It was ok for the price.
I really hate leaving negative reviews, but... This book *really* needs a good editor to clean it up. The writing style is overly simplistic, the protagonist reads like little more than an author avatar (MMA/military SpecOps wannabe, most likely), and incorrect near-homophones are used (e.g. “suspect” - which makes no sense in context - instead of “expect” which does). I do have to give the author credit for creating a different kind of zombie than we normally encounter, which is a nice change. I hope Daniel reworks this book and releases a tightened-up version because I want to like “The Zombie Outbreak.” I’d also recommend making the protagonist less unlikeable; few readers will be able to relate to a main character who’s that much of a jerk.
